UMN Nils Hasselmo Hall Cryo Lab

This project renovated 750 SF of existing lab space in Hasselmo Hall, creating two new laboratories and upgrading shared utility spaces for two Thermo Fisher cryo-enabled electron microscopes. Work included selective demolition and reconstruction of 742 SF on the first level (Rooms 1‑216, 1‑224, and 1‑226) to accommodate owner-provided research equipment, as well as mechanical and distribution system upgrades outside the renovated areas. New flooring and fresh paint were installed throughout, refreshing the lab environments. Adjacent Room 1‑214 and corridor areas remained fully operational, requiring careful phasing and coordination to minimize disruption. The project successfully integrated new lab infrastructure while maintaining a safe, functional workspace for ongoing research activities.
