Building a Legacy

Founded in 2007 by Tom Brown, Terra Construction started with a bold vision: delivering exceptional commercial construction. Despite a recession and uncertainty in the industry shortly after the firm’s founding, Terra weathered challenges by focusing on projects in the aviation, higher education, and municipal markets. This work laid the foundation for steady growth and shaped a company culture rooted in transparency, collaboration, and open communication.

At the end of 2025, Tom stepped into retirement, leaving behind a strong legacy of integrity, grit, and purpose-driven leadership. Longtime partners Ben Newlin and Jason Whiting acquired the remaining ownership and now serve as President and Executive Vice President, carrying forward the same values and commitments that have defined Terra from the beginning.

Today, Terra proudly partners with clients in municipal, higher education, public safety, parks + recreation, worship, and tenant interior markets — delivering on a promise of Serving Those Who Serve Others® and remaining grounded in the mission that started it all nearly 20 years ago.
