UMN MRF BSL2 Room Conversions
This project transformed existing active laboratory spaces into six enhanced BSL2 laboratory suites, supporting advanced research capabilities. Work included selective demolition and reconstruction of walls, installation of new doors and frames, updated finishes, casework, and targeted plumbing and mechanical improvements to meet BSL2 requirements. The renovations were completed within lab alcoves in fully operational labs, requiring careful material staging and access through active research areas. Existing ceiling tile and grid were retained, and select shelving was reused while new shelving was added to optimize functionality. The project successfully balanced construction needs with uninterrupted lab operations, delivering modernized, code-compliant BSL2 suites that enhance research capacity and efficiency.
