Carleton College Scoville Hall

This project included construction management services on Scoville Hall and Johnson House at Carleton College. Minor renovations to Johnson House were undertaken to allow the Career Center to move from its current home in Sayles-Hill Campus Center to a much larger and more visible location at the entrance to campus. Scoville Hall was in need of more significant renovation. Built in 1896 as the College library, Scoville Hall was renovated for office and classroom uses in 1954. Restoring the architectural integrity of the building and addressing issues of accessibility were a primary focus of the renovation, allowing Scoville Hall to become an elegant, public-centered home for Admissions and Financial Aid.

Waterproofing
Scoville Hall was in need of significant renovation. Built in 1896 as the college’s library, Scoville Hall was renovated for office and classroom uses in 1954. In 2016, Terra restored the architectural integrity of the building and also addressed a number of different maintenance issues such as waterproofing. The entire below grade existing stone foundation perimeter of the building was waterproofed with an American Hydrotech Monolithic Membrane 6125FR fluid-applied waterproofing system, drainage panels and protection board.
